Family Time

Emily here...
Well we have definitely been busy these past two weeks!  My mom, C.J. and Giorgi came to visit last last week and Chelsey's mom and sister, Megan, came last week!  Chelsey and I hardly got to hang out during that time but we had great visits with our fams.  I honestly think that I have the best family in the world.  They are one of my biggest testimony builders because they the fact that I was placed with them assures me that I have a Heavenly Father who knows me so well!  Anyway, while my family was here, I got to hang out with them and had a little mother daughter date with my mom.  We went bra shopping because, quite frankly, I can't afford to buy them on my own...awkward.  Oh well, that's what moms are for right? She also paid for me to get my hair done...my ugly brown roots were far too outgrown.  We also got to see my Papa in his community performance of The Music Man!  He was awesome! I am so lucky to have a family so great that I cry when they leave!

Here are just a couple of pictures from when my family was here!

My cute Papa is the one second from the left.  He was in the quartet.

All of us after the show!

I'm a wee bit taller than my uncle;)

We tried to make it look like he is as tall as me but I just ended up looking like a creeper in the background.

C.J. popped into the photo.

Isn't my mom pretty?  Good thing I take after her, right?

My lovely aunt, Amanda.  She is the one who took all of these pictures!

Later, after my family left for Kansas, my aunt Erin was still in Utah visiting and she decided to be the coolest aunt ever and took me shopping for internship clothes!!  She is seriously the coolest and helped me get started on my first professional wardrobe!  I had such a great day shopping and it made me even more excited to go strutting around D.C. come fall!

Here is a preview of one of my many new outfits!

Do I look like a D.C. intern or what?

Emily

Flashback Friday

Hello everyone, it's Chelsey! So, I was supposed to post yesterday for Throwback Thursday, but I missed that boat.  I know you were dying to know more about our pasts, so sorry to have kept you waiting. To make up for it, I decided to do Flashback Friday, YAY!

This story is from about 5 or so years ago when we both lived in the cozy, little town of Tehachapi.  This is probably the most trouble we got into, but don't get your hopes up it still wasn't too much trouble haha. Anyway, so one day Emily and I thought, "You know what would be fun?? To TP someone's house!" I mean what else is there to do in Tehachapi, right? Naturally, we decided to TP the Mackie's house, as they were always our #1 target. So, we gathered toilet paper and other things to put in their yard (including shaving cream).

After we gathered our supplies, we were trying to figure out how to carry it all over there... this is what we came up with:
Yes, we shoved the toilet paper rolls into our sweatshirts to make it look like we had ginormous boobs, mature right?  We thought we were hilarious.

Anyway, while we had all our supplies out in the open on the table, guess who decided to pop in?  That would be Ryan (a member of the Mackie household), and when I say "popped in" i mean it literally.  He tried to scare us by sticking is head through the doggy door, naturally we screamed bloody murder.  Don't worry, Bubba being the good dog that he is chased him away. We were a little nervous that Ryan saw everything and knew our evil plan, but we decided to still go through with it, whether he knew or not.

So, that night we toilet papered their house, forked cups into their lawn, and wrote things with shaving cream on the driveway. I know it sounds mean, but we were doing this out of love. However, what we didn't know was that the oils from shaving cream could soak into cement... oops! They weren't too happy about that, and so we had to go back a couple days later to clean it up, which is what the next picture is :)

...and that's the most trouble we ever got into.  Lame? Maybe, but hey that's what happened!

Peace Out,
Chelsey :)

They're Here!

Hey, it's Chelsey :)  I know Emily already posted today, but I have the pictures from the dance!

Throwback Thursday!

Emily here...
Today we wanted to tell you a funny story from about 5 years ago!  It happened back when we were both living in California and my mom volunteered to make around 250 cupcakes for a stake dance.  And since she volunteered that means that I was the one who got to make them.  Thankfully I had my partner in crime to help me bake and frost all of those cupcakes.  By the time we were about half way done, Chelsey and I were getting a little giggly and it was getting late.  We were laughing so hard that one of us (can't remember which) dropped a cupcake on the floor.
The cupcake rolled right onto Chelsey's foot.  I, being the cynic that I am, told Chelsey to just pick it up and frost it... no one will know, right?!  It wasn't until the next day at the dance that we realized what we did... we frosted a gross foot cupcake!!  By that time, we had so many cupcakes that we could never tell which one was the foot cupcake; we could only remember that it was a lemon cupcake so we advised all of our dance buddies to stay away from that flavor.  Unfortunately, our warning came too late for one of our friends and he came over to us eating a lemon cupcake.  I don't exactly remember but I'm pretty sure Chelsey and I just looked at each other and decided that what he didn't know couldn't hurt him, right?

There is us, the night of the crime.

Emily

Academy Awards

Hey Everyone, it's Chelsey!  I'm about to tell you something pretty crazy, so brace yourselves.  On Friday night, I had a date.  Yes, you read right, a date.  Now don't faint, this was bound to happen eventually, even if the whole thing was set up by my ward (only at BYU right?).  Ok, story time.  So, my ward decided to have an "Academy Awards" night where each FHE group makes a movie and then we have a fancy dance and dinner in order to watch them.  Sounds fun, right? That's what I thought too until they decided that they wanted everyone to have dates, and if you didn't have one, they would find one for you (can you say awkward?).  So, being the "dating is stupid" kind of person I am, I decided not to go.  My roommates wouldn't allow this and convinced me to sign up on what we called "The Awkward List."

So weeks went by, and everyone was hearing from their dates except for me.  I was beginning to think that I couldn't get a date even when one was forced on me.  However, the night before the big night, my date called and then I realized that this awkwardness was actually happening.  I was freaking out a little (ok a lot), but luckily I have an awesome best friend who calmed me down and helped me get ready (by "get ready" I mean picked out my outfit, lent me a dress, ironed it, did my hair, and some of my makeup).  I would have been a mess without her.  Despite all the stress I was having, the night ended up being so fun! I'm so glad I went. :)  Here are some pictures of before the date.  I'm still waiting for the pictures that were taken at the dance, as soon as I get them I will  post them (I promise I have proof that this actually happened haha).

Emily trying to kill me... I mean doing my hair...

The finished look! I guess you could say Emily is kind of like my fairy godmother :)

Try to be a little better...

Emily here...
Chelsey and I live literally 30 seconds away from each other, and yet, we are not in the same ward!  That's okay, though, because we are in the same stake and this weekend was Stake Conference! We went to the "adult session" last night (which really just means everyone goes since we are all young single adults...).  I'm glad we went since you can never really be overly gratified but this session seemed more like a perspective missionary fireside.  Don't get me wrong, I love missionaries; they're GREAT!  Chelsey and I, however, made the decision not to go on a mission.  Not only that, but the whole auditorium was full of returned missionaries.  The messages were great but Chelsey and I agreed that we both loved this mornings session more.  (Are you allowed to say that about Church?  Oh well, shoot me.)  This morning's session was full of awesome hymns (I love it when the chorister doesn't get creative and just sticks to the basics.  Who wants to sing those weird obscure songs?), lots of short talks (which is way better than listening to three people for two hours), and Chelsey scratching my back (and she didn't even want me to scratch her's in return!!  Great best friend, right?!)!

I personally enjoyed hearing our Stake President talk.  He is older and adorable and hilarious!  My favorite thing that he said was, "Always try to be a better person tomorrow than you were today.  Don't let opportunities for improvement slip by you."  So I say we all try to be a little better tomorrow.

After the Saturday session, we went over to the BYU Men's Volleyball game to watch our #1 team!  Volleyball has become one of our favorite sports to watch...so much fun! Now here are some pictures so that you can feel like you were right there with us this weekend!

Chelsey and I coordinated today!  Aren't we adorable?
Our sort of matching booties:)

Today was a gorgeous day outside!  Probably the nicest day of the year so far.  To welcome in spring, my roommates and I took some pictures outside.  Photos courtesy of the lovely Chelsey.
I'm still taller than all of them even when they are standing on a platform...

We tried a jumping picture but my skirt was a bit too flowy for that to work, if you know what I mean.  So I just let Karli, Mary and Lauren do the jumping.

As we were waiting for the "adult session" to start last night, I got to read the enthralling Business Grammar, Style and Usage.  I know, hold in your enthusiasm, folks.

Chelsey and I coordinated on Sunday and that was completely by accident.  But on Saturday night, my roommates and I sort of all decided to wear stripes!

Love,
Emily

So, we blog now...

So, last week Chelsey and I got rid of our Facebooks.  By "get rid of", I mean we changed each other's passwords then deactivated the accounts so that we couldn't log in anymore; it's all about the will power, people.  After that tragic event, we decided that we needed a new way to waste time on the internet since Facebook is no longer an option (at least until the end of the semester).
Just today we mentioned that we didn't really miss Facebook except for the fact that whenever we post pictures of our adventures that everyone and their dog seems to like it.  What can I say, we love the attention, folks.  We were driving to Target (as we do far too often) and got extremely excited about writing a blog together so that people can still admire us on the world wide web (no joke, my humanities teacher actually typed in "www" to the URL line in class the other day!  What is this, 2003?!)
Right now I am more in love with this idea, especially since I will be going to DC next semester and we won't be living near each other any more.  This can be a way for us to keep in touch with each other and with our admirers.  So follow along...
